For all you hardcore kids out there. Check this out.
p.s. IT’S TODAY
I’m sure many of you have seen the fliers around campus for Mojo Nation, playing Flat Tuesdays this Friday. I’ve received an e-mail from their manager informing me that they would love to be interviewed on our radio station. Awesome, right? Too bad I can’t do it, or I would totally lord my position over all of you peon DJs. So I’m turning it over to you guys, if you want to interview them, shoot me an email (johnvon1@umbc.edu) and I’ll get you in touch with their people. If you need help setting anything up in the studio, contact Alex or Rostam. This is a pretty limited offer, so act fast.
Your friendly neighborhood music director,
John von Gunten
Most of you don’t owe me cookies - the rest of you do. And Liz - you owe me a cake. For those of you who owe me cookies, you may want this information.
As of right now (3:30pm, September 30, 2008) the stream is down and the keyboard for the DJ computer isn’t working. Rest assured, we’re working hard to fix both problems and don’t anticipate this to last very long. Thanks for understanding, please don’t send any nasty e-mails.
Your friendly neighborhood music director,
John von Gunten
UPDATE: Everything is fine. Nothing is broken.
Your dedicated and hardworking staff bring good news. The updated schedule for the year is up. You have to scroll down a lot, but we figure it builds suspense.
Also we just purchased equipment for a new (read:better) DJ tron and equipment to enable sports broadcasting. More updates coming as developments change.
Alex
Attention DJ’s. If you’re not receiving e-mails from the DJ list send me an e-mail so that I can add you. If you are already on the e-mail list ask your co-host if she/he is on the list. Thanks.

Hey Everyone,
Here’s the important stuff to know from the meeting this last Wednesday, that all but 3 of you missed.
1. Make sure you sign in on the computer when your show starts, and sign out when you are done - otherwise, DJ Tron will be playing your awesome tracks, or you’ll be playing DJ Tron’s shitty tracks.
2. If you are a musician or you know any musicians interested in playing a gig at UMBC, get that info to Jamal - our lovely Promotions Director.
3. If you know any graphic artists interested in building up their portfolio, ask them if they want to design fliers, logos, tattoos, whatever for WMBC and get their info to Jamal - our lovely Promotions Directors. If you want listeners then we need to advertise - we’re looking for stuff that will almost offend administration, but won’t get us in trouble - which basically means they can go to town (if you want to design some stuff for us, then go for it)
4. I’m not your mother, and Alex sure as hell ain’t - so pick up after yourself and keep the station clean. Rostam may have Mary Poppins’ accent, but he won’t magically clean the station either. I know we aren’t very clean to begin with, but that’s not an invite to act like a pig and leave trash everywhere.
5. If you think it would be a super awesome time to get trashed and then rewire the booth, I can tell you know it won’t be. Also, smoking pot in the productions booth, not such a great idea either - not much ventilation in there.
6. Rule of thumb for profanity: if the sun’s up keep it clean. When the sun goes down, the only rule is that there are no rules. This rule is in effect during eclipses.

Hey everyone! Another awesome semester of WMBC radio is gearing up and that means Fall DJ SIGNUPS! They are happening now and a schedule should be done during the first week of classes. Once that’s done we can have our first meeting and get things rolling. Any questions email me at alexd2@umbc.edu or any of the other staff.
I know I’m late on this….
But I read the lineup for this year’s Virgin Festival and I was pretty psyched. I’m really gassed to see Rabbit in The Moon, Soulwax, The Stooges, and Wilco. I went to the last one and pretty much spent the whole thing in the Dance Tent (with the exception of Wu-Tang and Bad Brains). But this time, who knows?
In other news, we are trying to plan a concert for WMBC sometime early next semester. If you are in a band, or are a DJ, or a rapper at UMBC and would like to perform please send me an email at wrostam1@umbc.edu. Unless you suck… and not in that good way that people find funny or innovative. I mean you just are not good in any sense. Your own mother wouldn’t say she liked your stuff. If that is the case, do not email me, and stop it.
