• Mary Poppins doesn’t work here
  • We’re cleaning the station (for once) this Monday and Tuesday.  So bring some trash bags and windex and let’s make the place look presentable for the interview and what not on Wednesday.  Just because I call Rostam ‘Mary Poppins’ doesn’t mean he can magically make the room clean up itself.  Disney’s physics do not apply to the station.

  • Regarding Elections (SGA and WMBC)
  • WMBC officially endorses the candidacy of Yasmin Karimian and Jen Kent for the positions of President and Vice-President of the SGA. We also support the candidacy of James McCauley for SGA treasurer.

These candidates have always been supportive of WMBC and have used their previous positions to help us in our campaign to increase visability and upgrade our equipment. We urge all members of WMBC, as well as any UMBC student to vote for these candidates on election day.

A vote for them is a vote for level-headed leadership and progress at UMBC.

For more, WMBC Bro Chat, a weekly talk show will be speaking with candidates running in the upcoming 2009 UMBC SGA Elections.

As far as WMBC elections, the only electable position is that of Station Manager. Today, at the DJ meeting we voted on this position. The candidates were Alex Domingos (Incumbent) and Anthony Davies (Challenger). There were 18 eligible club members voting at the meeting, 1 member abstained.  The vote was taken by a show of hands in support of either candidate. The results were as follows:

    Alex Domingos- 16 votes
    Anthony Davies- 1 vote

    1 member abstained

The winner of the election, and the Station Manager for the next school year is Alex Domingos. Appointed positions were chosen shortly after the election and will be posted when finalized.

We still need music directors, so if you are interested in this position, or would like more info please e-mail Alex at alexd2@umbc.edu.

  • Up and Running
  • There will be a DJ Meeting Wednesday February  18th. We will be discussing the budget and podcasting and your input is needed!

As you have noticed our stream and website are back! We’ve got a new schedule up. You can see we still have “prime-time” spots open (especially on Thursday) so we are STILL accepting applications for time slots. Get them in fast because the slots tend to fill up over the first few weeks of the semester.

Be on the lookout this semester. I have a feeling that you guys will be seeing/hearing more of WMBC in the near future…

  • DJ Meeting Minutes from October 1st
  • Most of you don’t owe me cookies – the rest of you do.  And Liz – you owe me a cake. For those of you who owe me cookies, you may want this information.

    1. No eating or drinking in the booth – if you eat in there you can take care of the rats and crap that are going to start living in there.
    2.  Vinyls in the windows of the booth aren’t cool – put them up there and we’ll assume you’re doing something shady, like building a bong out of common household items.
    3. We need DJs for the Halloween Fest SGA’s putting on – if you’re interested, send Alex an email.  We need people from all genres so if you want to protest this amazing Pagan holiday I would recommend signing up to be the Christian Rock DJ.
    4. Fliers – we need some.  The vandalism on the Engineering Building sign is cool, and the stickers on the trash cans are pretty boss, but seriously lets try and walk the straight and narrow sometimes.
    5. DJ Tron 3001….coming soon to a station near you.
    6. Live Broadcasting from events will be starting up soon, so attendance to sporting events can drop even more.
    7.  New mailing list (wmbcradiodjs@lists.umbc.edu) – join or die.
    8. The ass bin isn’t there just for us to mock the person who takes the Bo Bice CD out of it.  Give away some of that shit to unsuspecting listeners.  Get creative with your giveaways – I don’t care if you drop those discs out of an airplane with a food drop, just get rid of them.
    9. Ops and Music Directors will be having office hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during Free Hour (12-1 for those of you who haven’t left your dorm room during your entire time here).  Those hours will be posted as soon as I feel like not paying attention in class again.
    10.  We need a webmaster – Mary Poppins (Aka Rostam) isn’t doing a very good job of it, or he’s just lazy – you decide.  But seriously, if you all are going to whine about the lack of website awesomeness then do something about it.
    11. Guerilla  dance parties and random live events are totally cool – you have my permission to go crazy.
    12. I am your amazing contact for day to day issues – stop harassing Alex about stupid crap like you don’t know where the line-in cable plugs in on your computer, or you can’t find something because the punk who’s show is before yours walked off with it.  I don’t mind emails – they make me feel popular and loved – but if you ask me where the line-in cable gets plugged in, I’ll spread vicious lies involving you and a donkey.
    13. If you have a key to the station you need to return that shit.  I don’t have a key and I want a key because I’m in charge and having a key demonstrates my position of power.  But really, we want the keys back.
    14. Read all the instructions first before emailing me the answer. DJs pick a 5 digit number starting with the number 7. Then add 83 to it, divide by 12, and square it.  Disregard the last 3 directions and email me your answer.
    15. Read all the instructions first before emailing me the answer.  Ops pick a 5 digit number starting with the number 5.  Then add 326, divide by 72, then take the square root of the resulting number.  Disregard the last 3 directions and email me your answer.
    16. If you have suggestions, email them to me or the proper Staff member so we can disregard them.
    17. The most important part of the meeting: Jesus Man and his Holy Magic Easel need to be destroyed.  We have taken this responsibility upon ourselves, and now this is the only task that matters.
    18. Next meeting will be October 15th – if you can’t make it I will expect a $50 deposit to my off-shore account.
